This place is fantastic. The location is perfect and all of the staff were amazing and helped us tremendously throughout our 3 night stay. We were upgraded to a roo with a private terrace. The room was tremendous, breakfast was delightful and the rooftop terrace had gorgeous views over the Bay of Naples and Mt Vesuvius. I would also reiterate...
Anyone thinking of visiting Sorrento, Italy, I recommend this hotel highly! The Owner, Maria, is a gracious and elegant lady who is hands on and visible daily for questions or just a general conversation. She prepares a daily spread for breakfast; fresh baked pastries, fresh fruit, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurts, cereals something for everyone. The hotel is beautiful, well maintained and in the heart of Sorrento where everything is within walking distance. Her staff, Luzianna and Giovanni are helpful and knowledgeable about places of interest or tours. I also have to mention, Laro, our driver who picked us up from the airport and gave us some interesting perspectives on the scenery as we were driven to the hotel, a very nice man.
We arrived and where greeted by Giavani checked in very efficiently and the room was lovely and as described one small criticism is that the bathroom in the evening was very poorly lit and we felt some instructions for the shower would have been useful but we had some laughs trying it out!!
I'm not sure there is a better place to stay in Sorrento. The service is great. The breakfast is pretty diverse and delicious. The staff is wonderful (Giovanni and Nunciana in particular), and they offer great suggestions for dinner and excursions. They also just go above and beyond (when I left behind a travel card they were quick to contact me and send it back).
We came here based on the outstanding reviews. The hotel did not disappoint despite high expectations. We used Sorrento as our base to explore the region. We visited Pompeii, Capri, Amalfi coast and Napoli. We were greeted by Giovanni and he made several recommendations regarding places to eat and guided tours to the Amalfi coast. Property: The hotel is gorgeous, in the middle of town. No view of the water but you can't beat central location. The hotel is very clean and the room spacious. We stayed in room 103. Breakfast is excellent and the dinning room is out of this world. Despite being in a crowded street, the rooms are quiet at night since the town dies pretty early. Restaurant recommendations given by Giovanni: The restaurants he recommends are owned by the same person as the hotel. Having said that, the restaurants were not only excellent but reasonable priced. Highly recommended. Trips: We used the driver that Giovanni recommended. His name is Gaetano. He is a trip. Very funny. He speaks English, spanish and Italian. He has enough funny stories to keep you entertained during the quiet parts of any excursion. A tip for adventurous travelers, I think that you don't need a driver in the low season. There is plenty of parking in all the small town in the Amalfi coast. We used the Hydrofoil to Capri and it was great. We felt that a guided tour of Capri was not needed. The trip to Napoli was also great. We were scared from all the stories that we heard, but Napoli is a beautiful city. Especially if you can overcome the chaos and trash. We wished we spent more time there. In summary this is a great hotel and a great base to visit the region.
At Maison Tofani, my husband and I truly felt looked after by the staff. We stayed for 3 nights mid-November and wished we could stay longer. Being budget conscious but wanting to stay at the high-rated Maison Tofani, we opted for the budget friendly Family room. Not much was said about this room in TripAdvisor reviews so I will describe it for the benefit of others. The room is massive (even by our American standards), with a large sitting area, a kitchenette with breakfast area, and full size bathroom. The stainless steel kitchenette included stove top, oven, mini-fridge (in addition to the mini-bar fridge), and sink. There was a breakfast table also present. The bathroom had shower facilities (no tub). There were two small windows, only one of which could open, but it opens to a cubby hole in a wall. We did not mind the lack of outdoor space or view since the rest of the room was so nice. The bed was the most comfortable throughout our Italy trip. It was not very firm like every other Italian hotel bed. The pillows were memory foam. What a treat! The service was top notch as everyone described. On our first night, we arrived at the hotel around 8:30pm and was welcomed by a relieve Giovanni who became worried about our lateness since the Circumvesuvia trains can be sketchy. He explained they normally close the office by then but he waited for us. Thank goodness he did that! The next morning, we were welcomed by freshly prepared breakfast, which included a wide variety of fruit. We had been in Italy a whole week and this was the first time I had fresh fruit...so nice! Maria, the owner, even brought out a mini cake in the shape of a heart to help us celebrate our anniversary. How thoughtful! We ate some, then took the rest back to our room and kept it in the mini-bar fridge to enjoy over the next couple of days. Just a note to others to plan ahead of checking out early. We happened to swing by the office the night before checking out to let them know we plan to check out at 7am. That is when we were met with a nice woman who had her jacket on and purse and clearly ready to leave for the night. She told us the office does not open until 8am so she will go ahead to check us out at that moment. She set her things down and proceeded with the check out process. How nice of her to stay late just to do that. We only had a few small complaints with the room. One was that the walls were very thin so we could hear noise from those walking by and talking, clanking dishes (maybe from a prep room connected to us), and running water from pipes. Also even though the windows were small, quite a bit of light came through them so it would have been nice to have darker curtains to block out the light during the night and in the early morning. Lastly, the cleaning solution used to clean the bathroom smelled quite strong and lingered about. These were minor considering the overall fabulous experience we had at Maison Tofani. Highly recommend!
We chose Maison Tofani based on Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. We stayed four nights and from beginning to end our experience was a good one. Prior to our trip Giovanni helped by booking transfers to and from Naples airport. Based on the horror stories we have heard from other travellers using taxis from Naples airport this was a good decision. Maison Tofani is a beautiful place to stay. The building is fantastic and our room was spacious and well appointed. The breakfast room is stunning, as is breakfast. Throughout our stay the hospitality of all the staff at Maison Tofani was exceptional. Would we recommend Maison Tofani? Yes, without hesitation.
We had a Wonderful Stay at this place. First the location was everything, You're at the center of Sorrento, You can walk by foot to every place in town from there. Although it's not the best if you're with a car, since the streets are pedestrians streets, The hotel will take care for Vallet Parking for you for about 20-25 Euro Per day. Then the service, the staff was there for us for any inquiry or request we had, Nunzianna and Giovanni assisted us in planning trips, and answered all our questions. Breakfast was awesome, Like in a boutique hotel, everything delicious, everything in small portions, and as much as needed. Although it would be nicer if the menu changed a little bit more, during 3 days we have seen only small changes. To conclude, The overall ambiance there is great, and adds alot to the face you're in a great Town. Definitely Recommended!!!
Tres bien.
Maison Tofani was a wonderful hotel for our vacation in the Sorrento / Amalfi area! The location is excellent. Our room had a balcony overlooking the main pedestrian walking street in the heart of the city. The rooms are clean and comfortable and roomy. Breakfast was superb. The staff was excellent, always polite and considerate, always seeking to make our stay memorable. Thank you Nunzianna, Maria, and Ross!
My wife and I stayed at the Maison Tofani this past September for 5 nights and we found ourselves wanting to stay even longer. Previous reviews have already mentioned the fabulous location, the well decorated and comfortable rooms and of course the lavish breakfast served each morning. All are 100% true as you will find out once you are there. If you literally want to stay in the heart of Sorrento and if your budget allows, this is the place period! Giovanni who is operations manager could not me anymore helpful as past fellow reviewers have mentioned. We found that out the first day when "both our bags were lost" in between Vienna and Naples Airport. Needless to say we left everything in his capable hands and of course he came through. Bags in our position the following day.....yeah! We also had Giovanni book transfers well ahead of time before we arrived into Naples Airport to the Maison Tofani as well as return transfer to Naples train station as we were headed off to Rome after our stay in Sorrento. I would advise doing this "as everything went perfectly smoothly". We were very happy and it was well worth it! Your on a vacation and you don't need headaches so take advantage of their hospitality. As far as excursions while in Sorrento I would advice "taking the ferry" to Almalfi and or Positano as the bus was slow and painful. The Maison Tofani also has a nice excursion to Capri. Best part of that island, at least to my wife and I, was Anna Capri. Make sure you visit there and take the tram up to the top! A lot of fun and the views are spectacular. We stayed in Room 203 which is a Superior Room with large window that opens with a great view of everything going on down below. So many nice places to eat including a couple of their own not far from the hotel. Sorrento is the perfect base for your trip to the Almalfi Coast and the "Maison Tofani" will provide you a stress free outstanding stay. If you can swing it I would advice 4 nights or more as there is so much to see on the Almalfi Coast and its best just to take your time. We loved Sorrento and the Almalfi Coast and our stay at the Maison Tofani along with its staff could not have been nicer. We plan on going back sooner rather than later! Joe & Cammie
There is no doubt in my mind that Maison Tofani is the very best place to stay in Sorrento! The location, the public areas of the hotel, the rooms, the staff - everything was as it should be and absolutely perfect! Be aware that because of the awesome location, you can only take a taxi within about 2 short blocks of the hotel, but the driver called the hotel and Giovanni went to meet me at the taxi to help with luggage and show me the way. What a gracious welcome! The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays - and the public areas are spectacular! My room was very quiet, very clean and very comfortable. What more can you ask for?
